Established at a public meeting held at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall on 23 July 1988, with its roots go back to the time more than 30 years earlier. The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs exists to maintain our freedom to use Yesterday’s Vehicles on Tomorrow’s Roads. Additionally we encourage the preservation and promotion of all types of vehicle within the broader context of our national heritage.
We are proud supporters of the FBHVC and its work to ensure that yesterday’s vehicles have unrestricted freedom to use tomorrow’s roads. Their work includes lobbying Parliament on behalf of the historic vehicle community’s needs - from classic cars and motorcycles, to steam traction engines and military vehicles.
The FBHVC is also the founder of and driving force behind Drive It Day and Ride It Day, traditionally the Sunday nearest St. George’s Day (23/4). This is the historic vehicle community’s annual opportunity to host a ‘moving motor show’ designed to enthuse the public in a hobby that is worth over £7bn annually to UK plc and employs over 34,000 people.

Even if the Aston Martin you drive today isn’t yet regarded as a ‘historic vehicle’ for tax purposes (another concession negotiated and protected by the FBHVC) it will be one day!
That’s why we will continue to support the valuable work of the FBHVC.
