DB7: Fuel filler bowl preventative maintenance

DB7 and DB7V owners would be wise to pay particular attention to maintaining cleanness of Fuel Filler Bowl, beneath Filler Flap. Fuel Filler Bowl area has a tendency to collect leaves, seeds, etc. and foul up Drain Filter. It doesn't take much to clog Filter, and once clogged, Bowl area most certainly will retain water and drain slowly, if not at all.

When Bowl retains water due to rain, washing of vehicle, etc., one runs the risk of trapped water entering Evaporative Loss System via Vent Grommet/Tube located within Fuel Filler Bowl, including contaminating carbon canisters including fuel tank.

Additionally a recently posted DB7 Service Bulletin, SB081,  outlined the problem.

I encourage owners to provide preventative maintenance to Bowl area by regular inspection, removal of debris, and cleaning and /or replacement of Drain Filter for avoiding potential engine difficulties and costly repair bills.

Degree of difficulty of maintaining Bowl area, including removal and replacement of filter is equivalent to removing ones bank credit card from money clip.

That's it, so when refuelling DB7 take notice of bowl cleanliness.
